'Hello Everyone, I work for a small food manufacturing (continuous process, formula based) company that is currently in search of a decent ERP or accounting program with functional add-ons. We currently use an unsupported version of MYOB and have decided that a more robust program is necessary. After several weeks of exhaustive research we have still not been able to narrow down a preference. I stumbled across this website and noticed the solid discussion and posts towards other users looking for guidance and thought I would post. We’re looking in the neighborhood of 5-10 Users on a budget of $15-20,000. The main features we are looking for include: Friendly User Interface: Most of the office personnel are older and would not respond well to a comprehensive system that is difficult to navigate. Lot Tracking: As a food producer we have to ensure traceability of raw materials and expiration dates of finished goods. E-Invoicing and POS, along with standard accounting functionality. Additional Considerations: MRP, MPS, Bar Code Integration, Customer Payment Portal, any Food Safety integrations (HAACP, SQF, product testing). Mobile functionality is also a plus (we also distribute to local businesses). Ideally, we would prefer an integrated ERP with all the above. However, in most cases this has been shown to be cost prohibitive. So we’ve been looking at easy to use accounting programs (QuickBooks) with a manufacturing add-on (MISys). We were prepared to pull the trigger on QuickBooks and MISys but had second thoughts after discovering QuickBooks Enterprise is a subscription only service. Now, we are not entirely against SaaS (and it seems its most platforms sales model), but it’s hard to justify the 200% increase in cost of ownership for a small business. That being said, we would like to find out if there are better SaaS combos or a solid desktop ERP that would fit our needs. Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated. Thanks Gabe Mystified, Confused, Bewildered Project Leader.' Gabe, Check out BlueLinkERP.com. They have been a great solution for one of our subsidiary food export/import companies. Mark Canes, the owner, has an accounting background, and his staff have been great to work with. They specialize in small to mid-sized companies and have a number of customers in the food processing/distribution industries. They have a lot (probably most if not all) of the solutions you indicated you needed. They are very reasonably priced and they do SaaS or you can buy and host yourself. We have worked with them for two years now.
